Zion National Park: Sacred Cliffs
2015 By Michael Korfhage, Joel Anderson
About the Art
Zion National Park is known for its impressive geological formations, massive sandstone buttes and
escarpments that rise out of the ground as if pushed by some mighty force beneath. What is unique
about these cliffs is the attraction of vegetation to them. Many of the cliffs are surrounded by grasses
and arid scrub bushes, some of which climb up the sides of the cliffs, almost all the way to the top.
Such vegetation makes for perfect eateries for the Bighorn sheep that call Zion National Park their
home. This original Anderson Design illustrates those impressive cliffs, the greenery that climb up
them, and a lone sheep who pauses in his grazing. To learn more about the cliffs and how they were
formed, click on over to the Zion National Park Forever Project.
