100th Anniversary Of Route 66 (Cadillac Ranch)
2026 By Derek Anderson, Joel Anderson
About the Art
In 2026, America will be celebrating the Route 66 Centennial ... the 100th anniversary of the Mother Road serving the traveling public! The numerical designation of "U.S. Route 66" was assigned on April 30, 1926. Standing proudly along Route 66 west of Amarillo, Texas, Cadillac Ranch is a famously odd public art installation and sculpture. It was created in 1974 by Chip Lord, Hudson Marquez, and Doug Michels. The installation consists of 10 Cadillacs buried nose-first in the ground. Vintage poster art provides the perfect style for depicting American travel destinations, and this original travel poster and hand-rendered art design will look great as an unframed print, framed illustration, notecard, postcard, metal sign, canvas, or mini canvas. Available in multiple size options, this whimsical travel art was fashioned in the style of 20th-century vintage art and the iconic travel art and retro art that first promoted American travel and adventure.
