About the Art

Perhaps one of the most iconic historical destinations in America, Monticello was the primary plantation of Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United States. Jefferson began designing Monticello after inheriting land from his father at age 26. Located just outside Charlottesville, Virginia in the Piedmont region, the plantation was originally 5,000 acres. Due to its architectural and historic significance, the property has been designated a National Historic Landmark. In 1987, Monticello and the nearby University of Virginia, also designed by Jefferson, were together designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. To celebrate these icons of American history and culture, Anderson Design Group poster artists rendered a retro design and vintage poster in the style of early 20th-Century travel posters. This classic print will look great as a framed print, canvas, metal sign, mini-canvas, or as a postcard or a notecard. And to learn more about the historic site and travel opportunities to and from it, visit the website for the Monticello Visitor Center.
