Devils Postpile National Monument, California
2018 By Derek Anderson, Joel Anderson
About the Art
Found near Mammoth Mountain in eastern California, Devils Postpile National Monument seeks to
protect and conserve a unique and unusual columnar formation of basalt rock. The Monument also
preserves Rainbow Falls, a nearby waterfall. While columnar basalt formations are not uncommon in
other countries (Iceland, for example, has many of them), such a rock formation is very unusual in the
United States. Seeking to capture the unique nature of these rock columns, Anderson Design Group
created a vintage travel poster of a young couple visiting the Monument. Available as a canvas, art
print, metal sign, framed postcard, or notecard, this artwork would look great on any wall. Stylish in
nature and designed after the vintage works of the early-20th century, this artwork makes a good
conversation starter too. And to learn more about the Monument, visit the National
Parks Service.
