Grand Canyon National Park: Condors

The California Condor was labeled officially extinct in the wild in 1987, with just a few condors left in captivity. Reintroduction efforts have been successful but slow. To this day, the species is still listed as Critically Endangered. However, the bird species is growing, with about 463 condors living in the wild and in captivity. At this time, there are even a few wild condors living in the Grand Canyon! Lucky visitors to Grand Canyon National Park might just catch a glimpse of these magnificent birds, particularly from high-elevation points within the park like Yavapai Point, Yaki Point, and Lookout Studio. One might also explore the Vermilion Cliffs, Marble Canyon, and Navajo Bridge.
