Lake Ontario, the easternmost of the Great Lakes, is bordered by the Canadian province of Ontario to the north and the U.S. state of New York to the south. Ontario, Canada was actually named after the lake and Canada's largest city, Toronto, was founded on the shores of Lake Ontario.
