Jordan: Petra

About the Art
One of the New Seven Wonders of the World calls the nation of Jordan its home. This is referring to the
ancient city of Petra, located between the Dead Sea and the Red Sea. The ancient city is built and
carved into the rock, making it so that half the city lies underground. The city is well protected from
both the elements and from foreign invaders, which may be why it has endured for so long. No one
knows exactly when the city was built, but some estimates indicate that the city may be as old as the
third century BCE. Anderson Design Group crafted a vintage travel poster of the Pharaoh’s Treasure
Mausoleum, the most significant of the ancient city’s features. To learn more about the city and the
wonders it contains, be sure to visit the website for Jordan
Tourism.
