Navajo Code Talkers Veterans Memorial

Located in Window Rock, Arizona, the Navajo Code Talkers Veterans Memorial stands as a tribute to the Navajo Nation. During World War II, the Navajo Nation performed an invaluable service to the United States. The U.S. military needed unbreakable codes to use in the South Pacific. Given that the Navajo language is an unwritten language of immense complexity and difficulty, at first 29 and then more than 400 Navajo men and women were recruited as code talkers. That allowed the military to organize and communicate without their codes being broken by Japanese military intelligence. Today, the Navajo Code Talkers Veterans Memorial stands as a somber salute to the Navajo Nation, to the indigenous people who played a vital role in victory in the Pacific. Inspired by the untold story of the Navajo Code Talkers and the importance of their contribution, Anderson Design Group rendered vintage poster art of the memorial.
