Petrified Forest National Park: Painted Hills

Take a step into eons past with a trip to Petrified Forest National Park. This park is located in Arizona, near Holbrook. The 146,000 acre park is best known for its large deposits of petrified wood. The wood comes from fallen trees that lived in the Late Triassic Epoch, some 225 million years ago. That’s right, visitors to the park can walk among fallen trees that are hundreds of millions of years old.
