About the Art

No trip to scenic San Franciso is complete without a ride on the city's iconic cable car. The Powell-Hyde Line: Runs from Powell and Market streets up Nob Hill and Russian Hill, passing near Lombard Street, and ending at Aquatic Park near Fisherman’s Wharf (widely considered the most scenic route). Directly ahead in the distance, riders can see Alcatraz Island about 1.25 miles offshore from San Francisco in San Francisco Bay, near the Golden Gate strait. The island was developed in the mid-19th century with facilities for a lighthouse, a military fortification, and an infamous prison. This classic American Travel design is available as a poster, canvas, metal sign, or as a puzzle, set of notecards or postcards.
