The Odyssey: Homer

The Odyssey, an ancient Greek epic poem attributed to Homer, tells the story of the hero Odysseus's long, perilous journey home to Ithaca after the Trojan War. While he is away, his wife Penelope and son Telemachus fend off suitors vying for Penelope's hand and Odysseus's throne, leading to a dramatic homecoming where Odysseus, disguised as a beggar, must reclaim his kingdom. The epic is famous for its themes of perseverance, loyalty, and homecoming, as well as its encounters with mythical creatures like the Cyclops, Sirens, and the witch Circe, all while facing the wrath of the god Poseidon.
