This is the second installment of our blog series on Joel and Patty Anderson's exciting trip to the Grand Circle! 

Creative Director Joel Anderson, his wife Patty, and researcher/writer Dan Pierce (co-author of the upcoming book) recently spent 8 days exploring the National Parks, Monuments, and natural wonders of Utah and Arizona—all part of their preparation for the upcoming book: The Illustrated Guide to Exploring The Grand Circle.

You may have seen pictures or social media posts of it, you may have heard it on the grapevine, or maybe you already enjoyed some of the artwork that came from it, but we decided to launch a four-part blog series on Joel and Patty Anderson's exciting trip to the Grand Circle! 

Seeking new adventure and inspiration for poster art, exploring the region for reference photos and historical data as well as valuable travel info for the upcoming coffee table book, Creative Director Joel Anderson, ADG's bookkeeping wiz Patty Anderson, and historian and writer Dan Pierce (co-author of the upcoming book) all traveled to the National Parks, Monuments, and natural wonders of Utah and Arizona.

Though we see the National Parks in the present day as stunning natural lands where we can appreciate the vast biodiversity of the United States, the parks also offer rich history lessons. A trip to a National Park affords one the opportunity to learn about America's geological, anthropological, cultural, and biological history. 

To honor the National Parks and what they were before they were National Parks, we launched a mini-series on the history behind some of this country's most cherished public lands.

This week we dive into Part #5, our final segment in the series, where we explore the history behind Yellowstone, America's first National Park!
